Working times can be quite a hassle in Japan, given the actual reality that people who leave the office early tend to be called lazy and unuseful. Therefore, working day until night is a common reality for lots of salarymen in Japan.
YouTuber Stu now made a funny (and sad at the same time) video showcasing his daily routine – leaving not a lot of quality time between working, sleeping, eating and preparing lunch for the next day.
Here is what Stu has to say about the video and his motivation:
January to the end of March is our ‘busy season’ at work, which means that for these 3 months, my life is basically like this…
There are definitely people in Tokyo who do this all year round in order to support their families.
I couldn’t imagine having to do this if I had those kinds of responsibilities as well. Big salutes to all you hard workers out there, winning bread for your loved ones!
Remember, always stay positive! Challenges in life only make you stronger, and right now I’m levelling up on the daily!

As much as I love Japan – the work-life balance if you are a hired employee really sucks, I guess.
